TR Blend Sentences for Speech Therapy

25 simple sentences for practicing the TR cluster at the start of a word at carryover level. Every sentence is pronunciation-checked, and at least one word in each carries the whole cluster.

Why practice TR in sentences?

Sentences are where a practiced cluster meets real speech: longer utterances, natural rhythm, and other sounds competing for attention. Some reduction may come back when a child moves up — that is expected, not a failure.

Have the child repeat first, then read (if reading), then answer a question using the sentence. When the cluster holds, move the same targets into conversation.

Frequently asked questions

What are TR Blend sentences?
Simple 5–9 word sentences where at least one word has the TR cluster at the start of a word — for example: “A train goes down the track.”, “A big truck drives up the hill.”
Why do some sentences contain other tricky sounds?
On purpose. At sentence level the goal is carryover into real speech, and real speech contains them. The TR cluster is still verified in every sentence.
When should a child move from phrases to sentences?
Typically after consistently accurate phrase-level practice. The SLP guiding the child makes the call — these lists support practice, they do not choose treatment targets.
Can I get TR Blend practice on a printable worksheet?
Yes. Ga-loo generates printable articulation worksheets with blends for a chosen age range and theme, and phonetically checks every word before building the PDF.
